Irritable Bowel Syndrum

Irritable Bowel Syndrum

Irritable Bowel Syndrum effects 15-20% of Americans. Some know that they have it and others live years managing the best way they know how with the symptoms. A day in the life of an IBS sufferer includes many trips to the restroom as well as uncomfortable diarrhea, constipation and abdominal cramps. Without a proper diagnosis, a sufferer can live oblivious to the things that could help them avoid the pressure, bloating and gas that this disorder causes.

Irritable Bowel effects both men and women alike. There are many remedies available for any sufferer.  A special diet can be constructed to help avoid the pressures and pains that irritable bowel syndrum causes. But simply knowing how a particular food effects ones body could be the best medicine. Knowing that high doses of caffeine or foods that are loaded with fat can cause nausea and upset stomach pains could make a big difference.

Some sufferers depend on herbal supplements to help regulate the movement of the bowel which can help. Probiotics can also help in this way. However, taking a supplement and continuing to drink six cups of coffee a day could be causing an unnecessary battle within any irritable bowel gut.

Pregnancy is an interesting interference for women who have irritable bowel syndrum.  Some claim that the irritable bowel symptoms tend to be worse as constipation can be a side effect of the hormones that are present during pregnancy. Therefore, those with IBS-C (with constipation) can experience worse IBS symptoms.

However, those women how tend to have records of IBS-D (with diarrhea) note the opposite effect. They tend to experience less IBS symptoms because of the reverse effect that the pregnancy hormones have on their systems. This can be a nice reprieve for pregnant women during a time that can be plagued with other uncomfortable and unpleasant symptoms.

It is also in the best interest of any patient to be fully knowledgeable about any disorder that they have. E-medicine comes in very handy in supplying this knowledge to patients. The information located on the Internet is endless for any subject including irritable bowel syndrum.

Overall, irritable bowel syndrum is a manageable and survivable disorder. With a proper diet and a knowledge about the disorder, any patient can avoid needless trips to the restroom and other painful symptoms and return to a healthy and happy life without needless interruption.
